Welcome Back!!

It's another new year!!!

I am sure everyone is excited about the start of a new school year! Lots of fun and new opportunities ahead!

Elementary parents, please remember to check your student's schedule for their scheduled PE classes. Students need to have sneakers on PE day!!!

Middle schoolers, please remember that you will need to bring a change of clothes for Phys. Ed. class. A change of clothes means a different shirt (top), shorts or athletic pants, and appropriate footwear.
Lockers and locks will be made available for students who want them and will use them.

*********************************************************************************

If you wish for your child to be excused from physical education activities due to illness or injury, a written note is required to explain the situation.  If the child is excused for more than two consecutive days when they have Physical Education, a doctor’s note is required. For extended absences a doctor’s note is required for your child to return to Physical Education class.

Look forward to seeing all of you!!

April 1, 2018

Winter is slowly going away....finally.  We have all been cooped up long enough!

Lots of things getting done inside in PE.

K-4 have been working on some fitness and cup-stacking or Speedstacking skills.  It is great activity for
hand-eye coordination, bilateral dexterity, and muscle memory.  You can check out the link below to watch the
connections between motor skills and brain activity.

Middle schoolers completed a floor hockey unit at the beginning of March.  Since that time, our gym space has
been somewhat restricted due to the drama set and production.  However, we have still been busy with
activities such as Speedstacking, Spikeball, and Scooter Soccer.

After April vacation we will be moving into passing and catching skills with k-2 and use of long and short
handled implements such as paddles, racquets, bats, etc.  Middle school will move into racquets and paddle
sports.

Have a great Spring!!!

We are grinding through the long winter here at CDS.  It's nice to see the sun a little longer each day...warmer days are coming!!!

Elementary classes started the new year working on bowling skills, one of our lifetime sport activities.  We worked hard on stepping in opposition and using a mature underhand rolling technique.  We also worked hard on social, sportsmanship skills during this unit.  K-2 are now moving into combined motor skill activities and games for a few weeks.  3-4 will be learning lead up skills and games for hockey.

Middle schoolers have just completed a volleyball unit. Skills improved wonderfully.  So excited that our female students now have the option of playing competitive volleyball at Brewer if it interests them!

Middle school is now starting a floor hockey unit.  Should be lots of fun!

We have a student teacher working with us for the next 4 weeks from the University of Maine.  Mr. Nick Gayer is completing an 8 week placement with us before completing student teaching requirements at Brewer High.

Stay warm!!!
